I’m so excited to finally share the news that the Beech Hut, our newest vacation rental property in Beech Mountain, North Carolina, has gotten a makeover!

The Beech Hut has quickly become a special place for us. It’s a cozy round house that’s perfect for a romantic weekend getaway or a fun-filled family vacation. But we wanted to make it even more inviting and comfortable for our guests. So we’ve been busy renovating the property, and we’re thrilled with the results.

The Beech Hut is a two-bedroom, one -and-a-half-bathroom vacation rental property nestled right alongside a creek and walking distance to the Beech Mountain Ski Resort. We instantly fell in love with this little property’s charm and the abundance of nature that surrounds it.

While the previous owners kept the property in immaculate condition for its age, we knew the country bear theme (while adorable and rustic) was not going work for our Luxury Roaming Pineapple brand aesthetic.

The first transformation was for the walls. Being such a small space, the wood paneling throughout made it feel even smaller. So the wood paneling throughout got a fresh coat of Sherwin Williams Alabaster, still a warmer white color, but not eye-blinding. We also installed new trim all along the roofline and around the windows.

Next up the flooring got an upgrade to durable Luxury Vinyl Plank. Since we eliminated the wood paneling, we brought back the natural wood element with the design of the flooring. A multi-colored panel ensured coordinated with the darker wood ceiling, dark beams, and lighter maple cabinets we were intent on keeping. I love LVP because it is durable for pets, easy to clean & waterproof, and warmer on the feet than tile in the cold winter.

My favorite upgrade was the kitchen. First of all, one of the easiest and best ways to update an entire space is by adding all new appliances. So of course we went with the same LG suite of appliances that went into The Princess Tide. They look so beautiful and sleek.

We decided to keep the beautiful maple cabinets as they were in great shape and you don’t just go demoing solid maple like that. However, we did add a sparkly new white quartz counter-top, Cast Iron undermount farmhouse sink, and a fun geometric tile backsplash as a nod to the homes geometric shape.

Swing arm farmhouse lighting was added above the cabinets to give task lighting to the counters, and a bright farmhouse chandelier over the dining area give ample light to the new luxury kitchen.

To capitalize on storage space but also give the space a drop zone for guests to pull off snow boots and jackets, we removed the thin cabinets that used to hang to the right of the door, and instead placed a bench and hooks. Also a hidden garbage cabinet also doubles as a microwave cart to keep kitchen counter space free for food prep.

A large buffet cabinet was added opposite the kitchen with a custom open shelving unit to create an adorable coffee and beverage station. Again, enabling us to keep the kitchen counters free for food prep. The storage inside the buffet cabinets also gives guests a place to tuck away snacks and non-perishable foods.

Next, the fireplace got new logs and an auto-ignite mechanism with timer for safe and easy guest usability of the gas fireplace. We wrestled with re-facing the stone façade but after we painted the walls, replaced the floors, and added natural toned furniture, the fireplace fit right into the new mood of the living space, so we kept it as is!

Aside from flooring and walls, the biggest upgrade for the bedrooms was that we added Heating and Air Conditioning Mr. Cool Systems! Believe it or not, this property had no air conditioning prior, and while it does stay fairly cool on the top of Beech Mountain in the summer, it can get into the 80s and be uncomfortable at times. Now guests can lower the temperature in each room to their liking.

The fun part of this process was of course giving it all new furnishings. Each room got its own theme and personality to go with the seasons of the Mountain.

In the living room we creating a cozy summer like atmosphere with soft neutral colors to balance the stone gas fireplace. Two papasan style chairs flank the warm faux leather sofa beckoning a reader to sit by the window and watch the wildlife outdoors. Flecks of gold in the paintings of deer are reminiscent of the twinkly glow of fireflies that grace the area in early summer.

Turn right in hallway to the right of the bathroom is the “Autumn Room” where cozy warm rust and orange accents in the linens as well as the brilliant fall scene over the headboard tell a story of golden sunsets and warm pumpkin spice.

Turn left in the tiny hallway left of the bathroom the “Winter room” boast cooler tones of grays and turquoise for a refreshing wintery feeling with its snowy scene above the bed to its fun Ski posters across.

This room has its own half bath with similar dark farmhouse fixtures to the main bath.

Into the hallway and straight ahead is a full bathroom with moody dark farmhouse style fixtures that pop against the bright white walls.

The exterior of the Beech Hut also got a bit of an overhaul for more guest amenities. After all, the best feature of Beech Mountain is the amazing nature and wildlife abound.

The full exterior got a fresh coat of paint to a fresh sage green. We didn’t want to detract from the gorgeous natural setting so we picked a softer green that blends in with the surroundings.

The small area to the left of the staircase that leads from the parking space to the house was excavated to create a flat area complete with rock retaining wall for a Creekside fire pit area perfect for roasting marshmallows and staring at the twinkly night sky.

The Stairs were completely demolished and recreated with railroad ties and large rocks for a safe walkway to the house.

Off the deck we added a fenced in area on the backside of the house along the creek for a safe space for guests’ dogs to roam free and do their business while guests can enjoy the nature and a glass of wine on the deck overhead.

We still have a few things on our list to add in the upcoming off-seasons, like build out the deck to add a glittering hot tub, maybe a sauna and more access-able parking in winter snow months. But we are so happy with this initial result.

We completed the project just barely in time for the height of ski season and already we have had such positive feedback already!

Like “My family really enjoyed! Nice view, especially in winter period. Location is perfect.”

“Very cool round house, nicely equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, very easy to check in and ready for us.”

“this cabin is as cozy as seen in the photos! the inside is stunning and relaxing with a nice fireplace, and there’s a little stream nearby so you feel tucked away in the woods. the benefit of staying here is if you’re skiing/snowboarding at beech mountain resort because it’s right across the street!
it was clean, comfortable, and cute!”

“What a perfect location for our quick family getaway. The house was extremely clean and well kept. Great location (about 7 min walk) to Beech Mountain. The amenities seemed to be all new. WiFi worked great. Beautiful surroundings and very peaceful…Overall we will be back. Everything we could have asked for and exceeded our expectations. Have to shout out cleanliness again. Well done.
